MEETING OF AUGUST 14, 1914.

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the Trustees' Room, at the University, in Urbana, on Friday, August 14, 1914, at 2.00 p. m., pursuant to the following notice which was sent out by the Secretary on August 6, 1914: Upon the call of the Acting President, Mr. Allen P. Moore, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, in the Trustees' Room, in the Natural History Building, a t the University, in Urbana, on Friday, August 14, 1914, beginning at 2.00 p. m., to consider such matters as the committees of the board and the President of the University may submit and such other matters as may be duly presented. When the board convened, the following members were present: Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson. President James was present; also, during a part of the session, Prof. James M. White, Supervising Architect. Mr. Allen F. Moore, Acting President, presided. In the absence of the Secretary, Mr. C. M. McConn, the Registrar of the University, acted as Secretary pro tempore. MINUTES APPROVED. The Secretary pro tern, presented the minutes of the special meetings of July 11, 1914, and July -28, 1914, which, on motion of Mrs. Evans, were approved. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. The Secretary pro tern, presented also for record the following report of appointments made by the President of the University under authoritygiven him by the Board of Trustees: Bishop, Mildred Cr, Student Secretary in the Department of History, on twothirds time, for ten months beginning September 1, 1914, at a salary of forty dollars ($40) a month. (July 29, 1914.)* Davis, John W., Instructor in Electrical Engineering, for ten months beginning September 1, 1914, a t a salary of one hundred forty dollars ($140) a month. (July 18, 1914.) Fanning, Ralph S., Instructor in Architectural Design, for ten months beginning September 1, 1914, at a salary of one hundred twenty dollars ($120) a month. (July 18, 1914.) Poster, William D., Instructor in Architectural Design, for ten months beginning September 1, 1914, at a salary of one hundred forty dollars ($140) a month. (July 20, 1914.) Ganser, Sylvan E., Instructor in Architectural Engineering, for ten months beginning September 1, 1914, at a salary of one hundred forty dollars ($140) a month. (July 20, 1914.) • Gonnerman, Harrison P., First Assistant in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in the Engineering Experiment Station, for twelve months beginning September 1, 1914, at a salary of eighteen hundred dollars ($1,800) for the year. (August 10, 1914.) Higgins, George M., Graduate Assistant in Zoology, for ten months beginning September 1. 1914, at a salary of thirty dollars ($30) a month. (July 22, 1914.) Hofto, Jacob A., Assistant in the Illinois Survey, on one-half time, for ten months beginning September 1, 1914, at a salary of forty-five dollars ($45) a month. (July 14, 1914.) Randolph, Oscar A., Research Assistant in the Department of Physics, for the month of August, 1914, at a salary of seventy-five dollars ($75) for tlu* month. (August 8, 1914.) Ross, Anna, Stenographer in the Office of the Dean of the College of Engineering, at a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month, beginning when she reports for duty and continuing until further notice, subject to the regulations of • the Civil Service Commission. (July 22, 1914.) Scheftel, Yetta, Assistant in the Illinois Survey, on one-half time, for ten months beginning September 1, 1914, at a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month. (July 14, 1914.)
