Meeting of December 9, 1913.

The quarterly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University. q£ Illinois was held at the University, in Urbana, on Tuesday, December .9, 1913'. There being no quorum present, the board adjourned to meet in the office of the Governor, at the State House, in Springfield, 111., on Saturday, December 13, 1913, at 9 A.M. W. L. ABBOTT, President. ADJOURNED SESSION, DECEMBER 13, 1913. Pursuant to the adjournment taken at the quarterly meeting of December 9, 1913, the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met,in the office of the Governor, at the State House, in Springfield, 111., on Saturday, December 13, 1913, beginning at 9 A.M. > The following members of the board were present: President Abbott, Superintendent Blair, Mrs. Busey, Governor Dunne, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Dr. Montgomery, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson, President James was present. , r CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES DEFERRED.

On motion of Mrs. Busey, the consideration of the minutes of previous meetings was deferred. DEMAND OF T H E STATE AUDITOR T H A T T H E UNlVER&iTY TLJBft OVER ITS RECEIPTS, President James presented the following statement in regard to 3,; communication from Hon. James J. Brady, Auditor of Public Accounts, addressed, under date of November 6, 1913, to President Abbott: ^ ' ' The State Auditor has made a formal demand upon the : President' of the Board of Trustees that he turn over to the State Treasurer all the receipts Of ' the University "from fees, fines, penalties^ forfeitures, rentals, the , sales, of property, or from other like sources." * • ,' '.-."-VW iS ,Mr. Brady fortifies himself in this demand by reference to an opinion,rendered by the Attorney General to the effect that the University is bound to, turn over such receipts" by the terms of an Act entitled, "An Act in relation to the payment of the public money of the State into the State treasury,"- approVed.^Juhe.- % 1911, and in force July 1, 1911. \ V ' r ; :: ;:,, ' . ,; ^ Upon receipt of this demand I asked the Chairman of the ;Mnaiice Committee, Mr. Moore, to call a meeting of that committee to consider A t h e m a t t e r .
