In presenting- my resignation I wish to express my appreciation of the pleasure which I have had in my relationship with the Board of Trustees duringthe past three years. Respectfully submitted, C. M. MCCONN, Secretary.

On the recommendation of President James and on motion of Mrs. Evans, it was voted that a special committee be appointed, of which the President of the Board of Trustees should be a member, to consider the secretary's resignation and to nominate his successor.

I N V I T A T I O N TO T H E ILLINOIS STATE FEDERATION OF WOMEN'S CLUBS.

On. motion of Mrs, Henrotin, it was voted that in case the co-operation of the Women's Clubs of Champaign and Urbana can be secured, the University unite with these clubs in an invitation to the Illinois State Federation of Women's Clubs to hold their next annual meeting at the University. On motion of Mrs. Evans, it was voted that when the board adjourned, it should adjourn to meet in Springfield, at the office of the President of the State Board of Agriculture, on the State Fair Grounds, on Thursday, October 9, 1913, beginning at 10 A.M. The board adjourned.

MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, OCTOBER 4, 1913. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the Trustees'-Room, at the University, in Urbana, on Saturday, October 4, 1913, immediately following the adjournment of the special meeting of the board held on that date. There were present: Mr. Abbott and Mr. Trevett, members of the Executive Committee; - Mrs.' Evans, Mrs : Henrotin, Mr. Hoit and Miss Watson, members of the board, and President James.

SALARY OF THE ADVISER OF FOREIGN STUDENTS.

President James presented a recommendation that the salary of Dr. A. R. Seymour, as Adviser of Foreign Students, be fixed at three hundred dollars ($300) for the year beginning September 1, 1913, this amount to be additional to-the amount of Dr. Seymour's salary as Associate in Romance Languages. This recommendation was approved.

REPORT FROM T H E SUPERVISING ARCHITECT: CONTRACTS. BIDS AND

'President James presented a report from Prof. James M. White, Supervising Architect, in regard to a number of bids received and contracts let for certain parts of the work on various University buildings. This report from the supervising architect was referred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds for consideration and report. The committee adjourned.
