This communication and deed were referred to the Committee on Agriculture for consideration and report.

REQUEST FOR A COURSE IN SEX INSTRUCTION.

The secretary presented a communication from Mrs. Frederick A. Dow, President of the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs, and Dr. Mary G. McBwen, Chairman of the Public Health Department of the same Federation, requesting the University "to make adequate provision for the study of the problems of sex instruction and for the giving of a course in that subject in the School of Education of the State University." This communication was referred to the Committee on the College of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy for consideration and report.

BIDS ON WIRING, PLUMBING, ETC., FOR CERTAIN BUILDINGS.

The secretary presented a letter from Prof. James M. White, Supervising Architect, reporting the receipt of bids and the letting of the contracts for the wiring and the heating, and plumbing for the Stock Judging Pavilion; for the marble and the plumbing of the Woman's Building; for the benches for the Palm House, and for two additional vent machines and the heating and benches for the cross house connecting the machines to the Floricultural Service buildings, and for the steel for the Gymnasium. This letter was received to be filed.

RESOLUTIONS OF T H E STATE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The secretary presented the following set of resolutions passed by the Illinois State Horticultural Society to express their approval of the recent purchase of land made by the Board of Trustees. These resolutions were received to be printed in the minutes:

WHEREAS, It has just come to the knowledge of the Illinois State Horticultural Society, now in convention at Anna, 111., that the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois has secured three hundred twenty acres of land for the use of the Department of Horticulture of the University of Illinois for the advancement of horticulture in the State. WHEREAS, We realize the necessity of providing adequate facilities for the training and instruction of the students at the University of Illinois who are taking up the profession of horticulture; and WHEREAS, The experimental demonstration work of the Department of Horticulture has been of such acknowledged value to the horticultural interests of the State, and we realize that these added facilities will permit the Department of Horticulture to maintain its high position now held and enable it to render even greater service in instruction, demonstration, and investigation; Resolved, That the Illinois State Horticultural Society now in session congratulate the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois upon their prompt action and foresight in securing this tract of land while it could be secured in close proximity to the University.

REPORT OF A U D I T

COMPANY.

The secretary presented the report of the United States Audit Company of their audit of the books and accounts of the University for the quarter ended June 30, 1913. This report was received to be filed, certain parts to be printed in the minutes:

DEAR S I R : Following your instructions, we have made our regular quarterly audit of the books and accounts of the University of Illinois for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year as ended on June 30, 1913. On the several statements, as enumerated on the index prefixed hereto, we present full details of the cash receipts and disbursements. We reconciled the bursar's cash account on the morning of July 21, 1913 ; proved the cash book footings from April 11, 1913, to July 21, 1913 ; verified the cash in the office by actual count; and examined and proved the footings of the approved and receipted vouchers in process of entry.
