There were present: Mr. Abbott and Mr. Moore, members of the Executive Committee, and Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Henrotin, members of the board. MATTERS PRESENTED BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. President James presented the following matters for consideration:

APPROPRIATIONS FOR E X T E N S I O N OF C O N D U I T .

(1) A request from Professor James M. White, Supervising Architect, that five thousand dollars ($5,000) be appropriated for the extension of electrical conduit and cable, to provide for fifteen ducts from the Physics Building to the Law Building, for the extension of three ducts from the Dairy Barns to the Stock Judging Pavilion, for six ducts from the Dairy Barns to the Horticultural Green Houses, and for six ducts for 300 feet towards the new Armory and four ducts the balance of the way. This recommendation was approved.

AUTHORITY FOR T H E A P P O I N T M E N T O F PROFESSOR FRECHET.

(2) A request that the President of the University be authorized to appoint Professor FrScliet of the University of Poitiers to be Professor of Mathematics in the University of Illinois for the academic year 1914-15, at a salary of three thousand dollars ($3,000) for the year. This recommendation was approved.

APPOINTMENTS IN ACCOUNTANCY.

(3) A recommendation that Mr. William A. Chase be appointed Lecturer in Accountancy and Commercial Law, on part time, for the academic year 1913-14, at a salary of two thousand dollars ($2,000) for the year. (4) A recommendation that Mr. H. T. Scoville be appointed Instructor in Accountancy for the academic year 1913-14, at a salary of two thousand dollars ($2,000) for the year. The foregoing recommendations were approved.

APPOINTMENT OF A N INSTRUCTOR IN ECONOMICS.

(5) A recommendation that Dr. C. M. Thompson be appointed Instructor in Economics for the academic year beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of eighteen hundred dollars ($1,800) for the year. This recommendation was approved.

A P P O I N T M E N T IN T H E SUPERVISING ARCHITECT'S OFFICE.

(6) A recommendation from Professor James M. White, Supervising Architect, that Mr. George B. Rice be appointed Lecturer on the Installation and Operation of Mechanical Equipment for Buildings, and Assistant Mechanical Engineer in the office of the Supervising Architect, for one year beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of three thousand dollars ($3,000) for the year. This recommendation was approved.

APPOINTMENT OF A N ASSISTANT PROFESSOR ENGINEERING. OF S T R U C T U R A L

(7) A request that the President of the University be authorized to appoint Mr. John I. Parcel to be Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering, for three years beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500) per annum. It was voted that such authority be given.

APPOINTMENT O F A N ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF BOTANY.

(8) A request that the President of the University be authorized to appoint Mr. G. R. Lyman to be Assistant Professor of Botany, for three years beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500) per annum. It was voted that such authority be given. At this point Miss Watson took her seat with the committee.
