follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Meeker. VOTE ON T H E BUILDINGS BUDGET.

On motion of Mr. Montgomery, it was voted to approve the recommendation presented by President James that the supervising architect be authorized to proceed with plans for buildings as enumerated above, at the estimated cost indicated, and that the sum of nine hundred thousand dollars ($900,000) be appropriated for this purpose from the funds available for the purchase of land and erection of. buildings during the present biennium, the balance to be a charge upon the funds of the next biennium. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Meeker. At this point Dr. Montgomery withdrew.

MATTERS PRESENTED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY.

President James presented the following matters for consideration:

A P P O I N T M E N T OF S E C R E T A R Y , COLLEGES OF M E D I C I N E A N D DENTISTRY.

(1) A recommendation that Mr. William H. Browne, a t present Superintendent of the College of Medicine, be appointed Secretary and Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for the College of Medicine and Dentistry, at a salary of three thousand dollars. ($3,0.00). per annum, beginning July 1, 1903, and continuing until further notice. On motion of Mrs. Evans, this recommendation was approved. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Moore, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Montgomery.

PROVISIONAL BUDGET, COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY.

(2) The following provisional budget for the College of Dentistry for the academic year beginning September 1, 1913, with the request that the President of the University be authorized to fill the vacant positions therein within the amounts provided. . 1. Department Of Operative Dentistry— Head of department; 2 demonstrators, 1 instructor $2,600 00 2. Department of Prosthetic Dentistry— Head of deparrment; 1 instructor, 1 demonstrator. 2,400 Ott 3. Department of Oral Surgery and Pathology— Head of department; 2 instructors; 2 clinical assistants 1,750 00 4. Department of BacteriologyHead of department; 1 laboratory instructor. 1,000 Otf 5* Department of Materia Medica and Therapeutics— Head of department; 1 assistant 1,000 00 6. Department of of Porcelain Art— Head of department; 1 assistant 500 00 7. Department of Orthodontia and H i s t o l o g y Head of department; 1 laboratory instructor 1,500 00 8. Superintendent of Infirmary and Lecturer on Jurisprudence 3,000 00 9. Instruction in Comparative Anatomy * 150 00 . 10. Instruction in Anesthesis and Physical Diagnosis 150 00 11. Dean 1,000 00 12. Office: Secretary and 2 stenographers 2,640 00 $17,690 00 (3) The following recommendations: 1. That Dr. Frederick B. Moorehead be appointed Dean of the College of Dentistry of the University of Illinois for cne year at a salary of one thousand dollars per annum, work and salary to begin July 1, 1913. 2. That Dr. Donald McKay Gallie be appointed Professor of Operative Dentistry in the College of Dentistry of the University of Illinois for one year beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of one thousand dollars per annum. 3. That Dr. Walter Dittmar be appointed Professor of Prosthetic Dentistry iiri the College of Dentistry of the University of Illinois, for one year from September 1, 1913, at a salary of one thousand dollars.
