Meeting of July 2 3 , 1913.

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the La Salle Hotel, in the city of Chicago, on Wednesday, July 23, 1913, beginning at 10 A.M., pursuant to the following notice which was sent out by the secretary on July 15, 1913: Upon the call of the president, Mr. W. L. Abbott, a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois will be held at the LaSalle Hotel, in the city of Chicago, on Wednesday, July 23, 1913, beginning- at 10:00 A.M.., to consider such matters as the committees of the Board and the President of the University, may submit and such other matters as may be duly presented. When the board convened, the following members were present: Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson. President James was present. (MATTERS PRESENTED BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. President James presented the following matters for consideration:

BILL FROM UNIVERSITY TREASURER FOR O F F I C E EXPENSES.

(1) A bill from Mr. M. W. Busey, Treasurer, for clerk hire and office expense for the period from April 1, 1913, to July 1, 1913, amounting to one hundred fifty dollars ($150) ; it appears that the Board of Trustees has never thus far made -an appropriation for this purpose, although there is a precedent for the payment of such office expenses of the University treasurer. On motion of Mrs. Henrotin, the question of the payment of this bill was referred to the Finance Committee, with power to act; the vote being as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Dunne, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Meeker.

PROPOSED EXHIBIT AT T H E PANAMA-PACIFIC EXPOSITION.

(2) A request that the University of Illinois send an exhibit Pacific International Exposition to be held in San Francisco in recommendation that this request be referred to the supervising report as to the desirability of such an exhibit and an estimate of There being no objection, it was so ordered.

(3) The following letter from Mr. W. B. Day, Acting Dean of the School of Pharmacy transmitting a recommendation of the Advisory Board of t h e ' School of Pharmacy that the entrance requirements of the school be gradually increased until the requirement of high school graduation is reached. This letter was received to be printed in the minutes: President Edmund J. James, University of Illinois, TJrbana, III. DEAR S I R : The annual meeting of the Advisory Board to the School of Pharmacy was held on Friday, June 20. There were present Messrs. Herman Fry, E. H. Ladish, and A. G. C. Ackerman, and the secretary. The affairs of the school were discussed, and the following resolution was unanimously adopted: "The Advisory Board recommends that the entrance requirements of the School of Pharmacy be increased gradually until high school graduation is reached. We recommend that due notice be given of such increase in requirements so as to permit drug clerks to prepare themselves accordingly." Respectfully submitted, W. B. DAY, Secretary. 600
