Hoit, Miss Watson; no, Mr. Trevett; absent, Mr. Dunne, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore. REIMBURSEMENT OF CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT FOR EXPENDITURES FOR OTHER DEPARTMENTS. President James presented a recommendation from Prof. W. A. Noyes, Director of the Chemical Laboratory, for an assignment to the Department of Chemistry of the sum of eight hundred forty-eight dollars and ninety-seven cents ($848.97) to cover amounts which have been expended by the department during the current year for apparatus and chemicals furnished to other departments. On motion of Mr. Hoit, this request was approved, the vote being as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Trevett, Miss Watson; noes, none; absent, Mr. Dunne, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Moore. POWER OF ATTORNEY TO SIGN BONDS. On motion of Mr. Blair, the following resolution was adopted, authorizing the President of the Board of Trustees to execute powers of attorney, appointing agents and attorneys in the several customs collection districts Within the United States who shall have authority to receive and enter at the custom houses in such collection districts, goods, wares, and merchandise imported by the Board of Trustees: WHEREAS., It is deemed advisable for the convenient and effectual transaction of the customs business of the Board of Trustees of the 'University of Illinois, a corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of Illinois, to appoint in the several collection districts within the United States, agents and attorneys who shall have authority to receive and enter at the custom houses in such collection districts any and all goods, wares, and merchandise hereafter imported by said corporation, or which may hereafter arrive consigned to said corporation; to sign the name of said corporation to, and seal and deliver for and as the act and deed of the said corporation, any bond or bonds which may be required for or to secure the payment of duties and other charges on any and all such goods, wares, and merchandise, to sign the name of said corporation to, and seal and deliver for and as the act and deed of the said corporation any and all bonds requisite or necessary for obtaining the debenture and drawback on any and all goods, wares, and merchandise hereafter exported by the said corporation and to receive and receipt for debenture certificates and to collect the amount due thereon; to sign the name of said corporation to, and seal and deliver for and as the act and deed of the said, corporation, any and all other bonds which are or may be required by the customs laws and regulations issued in pursuance thereof, and any and all bonds which may be voluntarily given and accepted in customs procedure, and to endorse any and all bills of lading covering merchandise exported with benefit of drawback, and to execute any and all necessary documents which are required for drawback purposes; and on behalf of the said corporation to make declaration of ownership of any and all goods, wares, and merchandise imported by said corporation, and generally to' transact at the said custom houses atny and all customs business in which said corporation is, or ihay be, concerned or interested, and which may be properly transacted or performed by agents or attorneys: Now, therefore, at a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, held at the office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction of the State of Illinois (an ex officio member of said Board of Trustees), in the city of Springfield, 111., on the 22d day of May, A.D. 1913, a quorum being present, it is hereby Resolved, That the President of the said Board of Trustees be, and he hereby is authorized, on behalf of the said corporation, and as its act and deed, to execute such powers of attorney appointing agents and attorneys in the several customs collection districts within the United States, or any of them, as in his opinion are or may be necessary or proper to carry into effect the purposes and objects set forth in the foregoing preamble, said powers of attorneys to have affixed to them the corporate seal of said corporation, duly attested by the secretary of said corporation. SABERS AND BELTS TO BE GIVEN TO CADET OFFICERS AT GRADUATION. President James presented a request from Col. B. C. Morse, Commandant, that the sabers and belts worn by officers of the cadet regiment during their senior year be given to them by the University upon graduation; this would
