Meeting of October 8, 1912,

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, at Springfield, 111., on Tuesday, October 8, 1912, beginning at 10:30 A.M., pursuant to the following notice which was sent out by the secretary on September 30, 1912:

Upon the call of the president, Mr. W. L, Abbott, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, in the office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, a t Springfield, 111., on Tuesday, October, 8, 1912, beginning at 10 :00 A.M., to consider such matters as the committees of the board and the President of the University may submit and such other matters asmay be duly presented.

When the board convened, the following members were present: Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mr. Grout, Mr. Hatch. The secretary presented an invitation from Mr. George A. Anthony, president of the State Board of Agriculture and a member of the Board of Trustees, inviting the members of the board to a luncheon at one o'clock at the State Pair Grounds. There being no quorum present, a recess was taken until after the luncheon with Mr. Anthony.

MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OCTOBER 8, 1912. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, at Springfield, 111., on Tuesday, October 8, 1912, immediately following the adjournment of the morning session of the Board of Trustees held on the same date. All the members. of the Executive Committee were present, namely, Messrs. Abbott, Grout, and Hatch; also Mr. Blair and Mrs. Evans. Mr. Moore joined the committee toward the end of their meeting.

COAL CONTRACT AWARDED.

President Abbott reported that he had awarded the contract for coal for the University for the period between September 1, 1912, and August 31 r 1913, to the Electric Coal Company, of Danville, 111.; the coal to be one and one-quarter inch screenings from the contractor's mine in the Danville District, and to be delivered as required on the switch track at the University boiler house in Urbana, at one dollar and twenty-five cents ($1.25) per ton. This action of the president of the board was approved.

A Mr. Hobbes, representing the company owning the patents on the Bell camera, was heard with reference to a plan of taking birdseye views of the University campus. 122
