CHANGE IN E N T R A N C E -REQUIREMENTS

(10) T h e following recommendation of t h e University Senate, passed on Dec. .4, 1911: T h a t the. prescription in foreign language l o r admission to t h e College of L i t e r a t u r e and A r t s be changed to read as follows: " E i t h e r t h r e e units^ in t h e same foreign language or two u n i t s in each of two foreign languages." . T h i s r e c o m m e n d a t i o n of t h e Universit}^ S e n a t e w a s a p p r o v e d . AUTHORITY F O R ' I M P O R T ORDERS. (11) A recommendation t h a t t h e director of t h e Chemical Laboratory be authorized to place an order for t h e importation from abroad of chemicals and a p p a r a t u s to an a m o u n t not to exceed $10,000.00 ( t h e corresponding: orders for last year h a v i n g amounted to approximately $9,000.00). (12) A recommendation t h a t t h e D e p a r t m e n t of Botany be a u t h o r i z e d to place similar i m p o r t orders to t h e usual a m o u n t of $1,500.00. T h e foregoing recommendations were approved." . P E T I T I O N OF MR. R O B E R T C. MIZE. (13) A petition from Mr. Robert C. Mize, a s t u d e n t in t h e College ofLaw, t h a t he be allowed to t a k e a d v a n t a g e of a half scholarship in subs t a n t i v e law, which was awarded to h i m in 1909-1910, b u t which he was unable to t a k e a d v a n t a g e of last year on account of necessary absence from t h e University. T h i s p e t i t i o n w a s a p p r o v e d a n d t h e half- s c h o l a r s h i p ($25.00) awarded.
