The recommendation of the supervising architect, as contained in the foregoing letter, was -approved. PROPOSAL OP ILLINOIS TRACTION SYSTEM TO FURNISH ELECTRICITY. (2) • A proposition from the Illinois Traction System' to. furnish electricity to the University: The Illinois Traction System to extend their three phase transmission line to the University power house at their own cost, and to furnish the University with power up to a capacity of 300 KW at the prices named below; provided the University will not use their current from dusk until 10:00 p. m. from October 1 until February 15, without securing their permission; this proposition being made for a term of five years; with the understanding that the University will guarantee a minimum payment per month of $100.00; the University to receive a discount of five per cent if their bill is paid on or before the 10th day of the month ^following that in which current is used; the University to furnish the necessary transformers; the schedule of prices proposed being as follows:

On the recommendation of the supervising architect it was voted to authorize the making of a contract with the Illinois Traction System for furnishing electricity to the "University, and the closing of the contract was referred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, with power to act. PUSHING BUILDING PLANS TO COMPLETION. (3) £ copy of a letter from Dr. W. F. M. Goss, dean of the College of Engineering, with reference to the preparation of plans for the main portion of the new Engineering building; with the recommendation that the State architect be directed to use all possible despatch with these plans; but that, in view of the present condition of the steel market, the State architect be instructed also to push the plans for the armory to completion at the earliest possible moment, giving these plans precedence over others in so far as may be necessary. This recommendation was approved. BRONZE TABLETS FOR NEW BUILDINGS. (4) A recommendation that the supervising architect.be authorized to have bronze tablets, similar to those which it has been the custom of the University to place in new buildings, designed and set in place in the Auditorium, the new part of the Natural History building, and the Physics building; the cost-to be $260.00. This recommendation was approved, with the appropriation involved. —34 U
