I n the same connection, President Abbott presented for record the following letter from himself as president of the Board of Trustees to Dr. D. A. K. Steele, president of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Corporation:

CHICAGO, Oct. 17, 1911.

Dr. D. A. K. Steele, President, College of Physicians and Surgeons Corporation, Congress and Honore Streets, City: yDEAR SIR—I am sending you today for your signature the lease to the University of Illinois of the property of the. College of Physicians and Surgeons Corporation for the period Sept. 1, 1911, to June 30, 1912, inclusive, This lease makes no reference to the balance remaining in the Medical College fund for the years 1910. and 1911, and in reference to this balance I wish to say that it will be used for the general purposes of the Medical College during the current year. It is not my intention/ and I believe it is not the intention of my associates on-the Board-of Trustees, to reimburse the University from the gross earnings of the College of Physicians and Surgeons for this balance so used, furthermore the Board of Trustees has ho intention of materially /altering the Medical: College budget which. has already been submitted and approved. President, Board of Trustees., On motion of Mrs. Bahrenburg, the hoard recorded its approval of the foregoing report of the Executive Committee and the lease negotiated by the committee with the College of Physicians and Surgeons and of the general policy indicated in the letter from President Abbott to Dr. Steele, as printed above. R E P O R T OF C O M M I T T E E ON AGRICULTURE.

Mr. Hatch presented the following report from the Committee on Agriculture, which was received for record: Oct. 31, 1911. To the Board of Trustees of the University pf Illinois: Your committee to whom was referred the matter of rebuilding the- barn on the south farm (page 506) beg leave to submit the following report: The committee met with Dean Davenport in his office and conferred with him, and decided to erect a barn 74 feet b"y 44 feet, about 40 rods south of the location of the old barn, this barn to contain two rows of box stalls with' driveway in center and to cost about $3;000.00.

REPORT ON C A S E OF T H O M A S O ' B R I E N .

Mrs. Bahrenburg, as chairman of the committee to which was referred (page 476) the case of personal injiiry to Mr. Thomas O'Brien, reported t h a t the committee had received from Mr. O'Brien a communication describing the accident and the injury, which was presented. On motion of Mrs. Bahrenburg, this communication was ' referred to Dean 0 . A. Harker, University counsel, for investigation and report, and the committee was discharged.
