Meeting of January 17, 1911.

A special meeting of the. Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held on Tuesday, J a n u a r y 17, 1911, at 10 a. m., in the' L a Salle Hotel in the city of Chicago, pursuant to the following notice sent out by the secretary on J a n u a r y 9, 1 9 1 1 : Upon the call of the president, Mr. W. L. Abbott, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at the LaSalle Hotel, in Chicago, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1911, at 10:«00 a. m., to consider such matters as the committees of the board and the president of the University may submit, and such other business as may be duly presented. When the board convened at 10 a. m., the following members were present: President Abbott, Mrs. Bahrenburg, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Grout. President James was also present. The president of the University presented the * following matters for consideration:

REPORTS OF F E E S .

- 1. A communication from the registrar, recommending a modification of the present regulation (Univ. of Illinois Statutes, 1908, p. 25, section 33Z) in regard to the reports prepared by the registrar's office of fees payable by the students of the University. The rule as it now stands requires that the registrar "shall report in detail to the board at each regular meeting after the close of a semester or term of the University the number of students who during said semester or term were indebted to the University for term fees, tuition, deposits, and all other financial obligations (with the amounts of each) imposed by their attendance upon the University." The proposed reading is: "The registrar shall keep detailed records of all term fees, tuition and other financial obligations of students imposed by their attendance upon the University, with the amounts in each* case; shall submit these original records for auditing at the time when the accounts of the treasurer and chief clerk are audited; and shall report to the board, at each regular meeting after the close of a semester or term of the University, the total amounts due for that semester or term on account of each kind of fee or charge, that is payable." On motion of Mrs. Bahrenburg, it was voted t h a t this matter be referred to the Finance Committee, with power to act. SOIL INVESTIGATION TRACTS. 2. A communication from Dr. C. G. Hopkins, relating to four deeds to the University of four tracts of land in several parts of the State for use in soil investigations.
