I t is my opinion the College of Medicine ceased to be self-supporting last n i g h t and t h a t it will never be self-supporting again. In my opinion t h e college'cannot furnish better teachers and more of t h e m a n d better equipment, out of its earnings. I t has already gone beyond its powers in t r y i n g to satisfy t h e d e m a n d s of t h e University. • Courteously yours,

4. Recommendation t h a t the Board of Trustees approve t h e recommendat i o n s of the executive faculty as follows: First—That no person shall be admitted as a freshman to t h e Medical College of the University of Illinois, who shall not have completed the curriculum of an accredited high school with the s t a n d a r d four years course, o r have obtained an equivalent education, and who shall n o t also have presented sufficient evidence either by satisfactory certificate or by examination t h a t he h a s completed fifteen u n i t s of acceptable p r e p a r a t o r y work. T h e question w h e t h e r t h e additional r e q u i r e m e n t s which were set by t h e action of t h e faculty of t h e Medical College, dated May 1, 1908, as to be demanded in September, 1910, shall be insisted upon or not, a n d if so when, will be left open Jior f u r t h e r consideration. Second—That no person shall be admitted to advanced s t a n d i n g in t h e Medical College of t h e University of Illinois who shall not present satisfactory evidence t h a t h e h a d completed the fifteen u n i t s of acceptable prep a r a t o r y work before he began t h e medical study for which he wishes to receive advanced credit. Third—That t h e R e g i s t r a r of t h e University shall supervise t h e admission of s t u d e n t s to the Medical College, and secure t h e s t r i c t enforcement of t h e above regulations. Fourth—That no s t u d e n t shall be admitted to advanced s t a n d i n g in t h e Medical College upon t h e basis of credits received in colleges of inferior standing. Fifth—That no member of t h e teaching force of the Medical College of t h e University of Illinois. shall be connected with any other medical school. T h e f o r e g o i n g r e c o m m e n d a t i o n s were a d o p t e d . Sixth—Correspondence r e g a r d i n g a requirement of one year of college w o r k for admission.
