Mrs. Evans offered an amendment t h a t in consideration of the fact that so much money had been spent by the board on the house, the rental should not exceed fifty dollars a month. The amendment was defeated by the following vote: Yeas, Mrs., Bahrenburg, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Moore; nays, Messrs. Abbott, Blair, »Crebs and H a t c h ; absent, Governor Deneen, Messrs. Grout and Meeker and Mrs. Busey. The original motion was then carried by the following vote: Yeas, Messrs. Abbott, Blair, Crebs, Davison, Hatch, Moore; nays, Mrs. Bahrenburg and Mrs. E v a n s ; absent, Governor Deneen, Messrs. Grout and Meeker and Mrs. Busey. Third—For adjustment of the system of charging expenses of building repairs against the agricultural funds. Referred to the Committee on Finance with a request for report. A recess was then taken.

Afternoon Session.

When the board met after the recess, there were present the same members as in the forenoon, except Mr. Meeker.

Recommendations with regard to appropriation and assignment of special funds for the academic year 1909-10 as follows: Each recommendation was voted upon separately at the suggestion of Mrs. Bahrenburg. First—That the salaries of the following persons: M. H. Robinson $ 2,750 00 N. A. Weston $2,500 00 E. L. Bogart 2,500 00 Simon Litman . . . . . 1,700 00 J. C. Duncan 2,500 00 J. K. Towles 1,200 00 J. C. Thompson 1,400 00 T. E. Latimer . . . . . . . . . . 450 00 D. W. Morton 1,000 00 C. C. Wang 150 00 ;. C. W. Parker 400 00 —_____ J. A. Fairlie 2,750 00 Total $22,300 00 E. R. Dewsnup . 3,000 00 amounting to twenty-two thousand three hundred dollars ($22,300.00), be charged to the special appropriation of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) made by the Legislature at the last session for the maintenance of the department of social and political science and industrial economics, including instruction in banking, insurance, railway administration, etc., and that the balance of twenty-seven hundred dollars ($2,700.00) be appropriated for the incidentals, equipment and operating expenses of the courses in commerce. The recommendation was approved by the following vote: Yeas, Messrs. Abbott, Blair, Crebs, Davison, Hatch, Moore and Mrs. Bahrenburg and Mrs. E v a n s ; nays, n o n e ; absent, Governor Deneen, Messrs. Grout and Meeker and Mrs. Busey. Second—That the total amount of salaries paid to members of the staff in the Law School be charged to the special appropriation of sixteen thousand five hundred dollars ($16,500.00) a year made by the Legislature at its
