Abbott, Grout and Moore, and Mrs. Evans and Mrs.,Busey; nays, Mr. Hatch and Mrs. Alexander; absent, Governor Deneen, Messrs. Blair, Crebs, Davison and Meeker. HONORARY DEGREES. 16. Recommendations of the Senate and Council as to honorary degrees were submitted. APPOINTMENTS, 17. The following list of appointments, which have been made in accordance with authority given by the Board of Trustees since the meeting of December 8, 1908: J. H. Bornmann, Student Assistant in Chemistry, in place of "W. C. Marti, resigned, at a salary of $10.00 a month, work and salary to begin February 1,1909. Florence L. Brundage, loan assistant in University Library, in place of Edith L. Spray, resigned, at a salary of $55.00 a month, from Jan. 1, 1909, to Aug. 31, 1909. J. B. Daggett, employed in the office of the dean of Undergraduates, in place of J. S. Cleavinger, resigned, to fill out the rest of the year, at a salary of $40.00 a month, work and salary to begin when he reports for duty. Helen B. Gracie, order assistant of the University Library, at a salary of $80.00 a month, until Aug. 31, 1909, work and salary to begin when she reports for duty. Jacob Hodnefield, exchange assistant in the University Library, at a salary of $75.00 a month, work and salary to begin Feb. 1, 1909, and to continue until Aug. 31, 1909. Emerson C. Hull, research fellow in the Engineering Experiment Station, work and salary to begin Jan. 1, 1909, and to continue until June 30, 1910. Alice S. Johnson, catalog assistant in the University Library, at a salary of $60.00 a month, from Mar. 1, 1909, to Aug. 31, 1909. Roxana G. Johnson, reference assistant in the University Library, to take the place of Elizabeth Forrest, at a salary of $60.00 a month, from Mar. 1, 1909, to June 30, 1909. J. L. Jones, student assistant in General Engineering Drawing in the University, half time, at a salary of $30.00 a month, service and salary to begin Feb. 1, 1909. Helen C. Magoon, typist in the University Library, at a salary of $50.00 a month, from Feb. 1, 1909, to Aug. 31, 1909. It is understood that no vacation allowance is included in this appointment. H. W. Miller, instructor in General Engineering Drawing in the University, in place of Carl R. Dick, resigned, at a salary of $80.00 a month, work and salary to begin Feb. 8, 1909. Myra O'Brien, order assistant in the University Library, in place of Stella Bennett, resigned, at a salary of $60.00 a month, from Feb. 1, 1909, to Aug. 31, 1909. Adah Patton, assistant cataloger in the University Library, at a salary of $75.00 a month, from«Mar. 1, 1909, to Aug. 31, 1909. Bertha Snyder, reviser in cataloging In the University Library, at a remuneration of $150.00 for three months' service, salary to begin when service begins, which will be certified to by Albert S. Wilson, director of the Library School. Fred A. "Wilson, shelf assistant in the University Library, in place of William Brock Fagan, resigned, at a salary of $40.00 a month, until Aug. 31, 1909. Mr. Wilson's salary to begin when, his work begins. Mr. Drury, acting librarian, will certify as to this fact.
