Meeting of January 15, 1909.

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at* the Palmer House in Chicago J a n . 15, 1909, pursuant to the following notice which was sent out by the secretary J a n . 9, 1909: By order of the president, Mr. W. L. Abbott, there will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at the Palmer House, in Chicago, at 1:00 o'clock p. m., Friday, January 15, 1909, to consider the report of the Committee on Legislative Askings and such other business as may be duly presented. When the board met pursuant to this call the following members were present: Messrs. Abbott, Blair, Davison, Grout, Hatch and Lehman, and Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Alexander and Mrs. Busey; Mr. J . M„ Crebs, recently elected president of the State Board of Agriculture, was also present; Mr. Meeker came in a little later; absent, Governor Deneen. President James was present. The secretary, Mr. Pillsbury, presented the minutes of the meeting of Dec. 28, 1908, which were approved on motion of Mr. Blair.

AUDIT REPORTS. CHICAGO, Jan. 15, 1909.

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois: Your Committee on Finance submits herewith the reports of the Audit Company of Illinois of its examinations of the books and accounts of the University covering the period from July 1, 1907, to July 1, 1908, and including the letter of the company to the Finance Committee dated December 15, 1908. Your committee calls special attention to the last clause of this letter and also to Exhibit H, "reconciliation of difference of $934.68 as appearing in the treasurer's account of June 30, 1906, and in subesequent reports." We recommend that said letter and this Exhibit H be spread at large upon the minutes of the board as disposing of a difference in the accounts of late Treasurer Keith not cleared up until now. We also submit correspondence with the audit company relating to its bill of expense. We have authorized the comptroller to cause quarterly examinations to be made as tending to facilitate correctness of work. .
