XI. ( a ) F o r t h e purpose of securing information, a s t u d e n t ' s petition may be referred directly by t h e faculty of one college to a member of t h e faculty of another, but all m a t t e r s r e q u i r i n g action or recommendation m u s t be sent to t h e dean of the college in which such action or recommendation should occur. (b) S t u d e n t s ' petitions a r e distributed from the president's office to the proper officers. (c) E v e r y officer who receives such a petition, or communication, for investigation, recommendation or report, should act thereon promptly, and r e t u r n it x to t h e officer from whom received, unless otherwise directed, properly endorsed, dated a n d signed. If t h e communication is sent to any officer for final action, it should be r e t u r n e d , when properly endorsed as described above, directly to the president's office, or to other proper a u t h o r i t y for filing. P r o m p t action is essential in all cases.

STUDENTS' GRADES.

XII. ( a ) The weight of the examination in fixing the full semester's s t a n d i n g shall be determined in each case by t h e head of t h e d e p a r t m e n t . (b) T h e • faculties of t h e several colleges shall discuss t h e relative weights to be given to semester work and final examinations in determining t h e standing, and shall equalize t h e m in each college as nearly as possible. (c) W h e n t h i s usage has been adopted it shall be announced for the information of students. (d) W i t h i n t h r e e days after semester examinations, any s t u d e n t m a y secure from his i n s t r u c t o r an exact s t a t e m e n t of his s t a n d i n g for t h e semester.

F U N D S FROM E N T E R T A I N M E N T S .

X I I I . No organization connected with the University shall be p e r m i t t e d to hold any e n t e r t a i n m e n t with a view to r a i s i n g money to be divided among its members. All funds received from e n t e r t a i n m e n t s given by any University organization shall be t u r n e d into t h e t r e a s u r y of the same and used for t h e benefit of the organization as a whole, a n d for the promotion of the interests for which it was established.

L I S T OF P U B L I C A T I O N S BY T H E CORPS OF I N S T R U C T I O N .

XIV. Resolved, T h a t the members of the Corps of I n s t r u c t i o n be informed that, a t the end of t h e year, t h e University will p r i n t a list of the publications prepared by members of t h e corps in the course of the year, and t h a t they be requested to report the titles and medium of publication' for such list not later t h a n May 15.

POLICY CONCERNING RECEIVING STUDENTS UNDER D I S C I P L I N E BY OTHER INSTITUTIONS.

XV. WHEREAS, Inter-university courtesy and the m a i n t e n a n c e of a proper s t a n d a r d of discipline require t h a t > students under discipline, by suspension or expulsion, by one university, shall not be admitted to another d u r i n g the period of discipline, without consultation with the authorities of t h e institution which inflicted the penalty; and WHEREAS, In m a n y cases, students under discipline by one institution may suffer irreparable injury to t h e i r future careers if they are, because of this discipline, barred from e n t e r i n g all others; and WHEREAS, It is not infrequently the case t h a t students suspended or expelled from one i n s t i t u t i o n m a y be permitted to continue t h e i r education in
