3. That Dr. Raymond Weeks. Professor in the University of Missouri, be appointed Professor of Romance Languages and head of tjie Department of Romance Languages in the University of Illinois at a salary at thirty-five hundred dollars a year, work and salary to begin September 1, 1908.

Voted that such appointment be made.

4. That Dr. Julius F. Goebel be appointed Professor of German and Head of the Department of Germanics in the University of Illinois at a salary of three thousand dollars a year, for the term of two years, work and salary to begin September 1, 1908.

Voted that such appointment be made.

5. That Charles H.. Mills be appointed Director of the School of Music in place of Mr. Lawrence, resigned, for the year 1908-09, at a salary of twenty-two hundred dollars a year, work and salary to begin September 1, 1908.

Voted that such appointment be made.

6. That J. L. Litman of the University of California be appointed Associate in Commerce, for the term of two years, beginning September 1, 1908, at a salary seventeen hundred dollars a year.

Voted on motion of Mr. Blair that the President be authorized to make this appointment if he should see fit to do so.

7. RECOMMENDATIONS AS TO APPOINTMENTS AND SALARIES. That the following persons be appointed to the positions indicated for the year 1908-09: Thomas J. Burrill, Vice-President of the University. David Kinley, Dean of the Graduate School. Eugene Davenport, Dean of the College of Agriculture. E. J. Townsend, Dean of the College of Science. O. A. Harker, Dean of the College of Law. E. B. Greene, Dean of the College of Literature and Arts. W. E. Quine, Dean of the College of Medicine. Thomas A. Clark, Dean of Undergraduates. Lily G. Kollock, Dean of Women. L. P. Breckenridge, Director of the Engineering Experiment Station. J. M. White, Supervising Architect, That the salaries of the above be fixed as for the present year, except that the salary of the Dean of Women be increased to two thousand dollars. In the following lists, unless otherwise stated, the terms of appointments and of salary changes, begin September 1, 1908, and continue as follows: for professors, without limit; for associates, for two years or the unfinshed term: for instructors, and assistants in instruction, ten months; for all others, twelve months.
