The Committee on Buildings and Grounds made the following report which was received for record:

U R B A N A , M a r c h 21, 1908.

To the Board of Trustees of the University^ of Illinois. A m e e t i n g of y o u r Committee on B u i l d i n g s a n d Grounds w a s held upon t h e call of t h e Chairman a t t h e University t h i s day, a n d t h e r e w e r e p r e s e n t Mr. A b b o t t , Mrs. A l e x a n d e r a n d Mrs. Evans. I n t h e m a t t e r of t h e sidewalks, w h i c h was referred t o t h e Committee w i t h p o w e r to act, it was decided to accept Welch & H a w l e y ' s proposition. T h e B u i l d i n g s a n d Grounds Committee will ask t h e Vice P r e s i d e n t of t h e University, t h e S t a t e A r c h i t e c t a n d t h e Supervising A r c h i t e c t to assist in decidi n g t h e location of w a l k s . T h e Committee i n s t r u c t e d t h e Supervising A r c h i t e c t t o p u t a l i g h t n i n g rod on t h e A u d i t o r i u m . T h e Committee h a s asked t h e Professor of Mechanical E e g i n e e r i n g a n d t h e Supervising A r c h i t e c t to assist in forming p l a n s for t h e e x t e n t i o n of t h e boiler house, i n c l u d i n g t h e a d d i t i o n a l e q u i p m e n t and such c h a n g e s in t h e coal a n d a s h - h a n d l i n g m a c h i n e r y as seem desirable. The' Committee i n s t r u c t e d t h e Supervising A r c h i t e c t to s u b m i t a n e s t i m a t e of t h e cost of t h e c o n s t r u c t i o n of a g e n e r a l University w a r e h o u s e . T h e Committee recommends t h a t $1,000 be a p p r o p r i a t e d a n n u a l l y to meet such expenses of t h e office of t h e S u p e r v i s i n g A r c h i t e c t as c a n n o t be charged t o specific a p p r o p r i a t i o n s .
