16. At its meeting on July 6th the board authorized the appointment of an instructor in the Woman's Gymnasium at a salary of $800.00. I found that it would be necessary to pay $850.00 to Miss Gertrude Moulton, whom we desired to obtain. I offered her, therefore, the" sum of $850.00, being an increase of $50, subject to the approval of the board. On motion of Mr. Lehman this action was approved. 17. The dean of the Engineering College recommends that Dr. p . R. Watson be appointed assistant*to the dean of the College of Engineering, in addition to his present duty as assistant professor in the department of physics, his remuneration as assistant to the dean being at the rate of $300.00 a year, beginning September 1, 1907. On motion of Mr. Hatch this recommendation was concurred in. 18. I recommend that the following assignment of funds appropriated for the maintenance of the Graduate School be made: Incidental expenses in the office of the Dean of the School, $1,000.00. Expenses lor special investigations and research work, to be assigned on approval of the president of the University, $5,000.00

On motion of Mr. Hatch this recommendation was concurred in.

Dr. Helen Isham, Instructor in Chemistry, ten months from September 1, 1907, at $80.00 a month. W. A. Knapp, Assistant in Civil Engineering, ten months from September 1, 1907, at $70.00 a month. G. W. Pickels, Jr., Instructor in Surveying, ten months from September 1, 1907, at $100.00 a month. J. J. Richey, Instructor in Civil Engineering, ten months from September 1, 1907, at $130.00 a.month. George L. Dobyns, Storekeeper for the Physics Department, twelve months from September 1, 1907, at $50.00 a month. G. Rawson Wade, Instructor in Voice and in charge of the Vocal Departm e n t ^ the Music School, for a year beginning September 1, 1907, at $1,600.00 a year. Lois D. McCobb, Instructor in Voice, ten months from September X, 1907, at $85.00 a month. Sarah Delano Morton, Instructor in Piano, ten months from September 1, 1907, at $90.00 a month. Oddgier Stevenson, Assistant in Electrical Engineering, half time, for the academic year 1907-8, at $35.00 a month. J. T. Nuttall, Graduate Assistant in Chemistry, for the academic year 1907-8, at $200.00 for the year. G, C. Bartells, Senior Assistant in the Department of Chemistry for the academic year 1907-8, at $100.00 for the year. C. F. Dieter, Senior Assistant in the Department of Chemistry, for the academic year 1907-8, at $100.00 for the year. C. V. Manual, Graduate Assistant in the Department of Chemistry, for the academic year 1907-8, at $400.00 for the year. Rosa Sophie Drew, Scholarship in Botany in the Graduate School, for the academic year 1907-8, at $250.00 for the year. John G. Thompson, Instructor in Economics, for ten months from September 1, 1907, at $100.00 a month. Alfred William Homberger, Fellowship in Chemistry, for the academic year 1907-8, at $300.00 for the year: Bruce McGill Harrison, Scholarship in Zoology, for the academic year 1907-8, at $250.00 for the year.
