11. The Department of Physical Culture submits a petition that the old agronomy warehouse on the south campus, which has been abandoned by the Agricultural College, be assigned to the use of the athletic department and that the instructor of physical culture be authorized to make such changes in the building as are indicated in the schedule herewith submitted. Voted to refer this subject to the Buildings and Grounds Committee with power to act. 12. Mr. Fred Atkinson, Superintendent of Grounds, has submitted his resignation to take effect as soon as may be convenient. Voted that the President may accept the resignation as soon as he thinks best. 13. A suggestion has been made that it will be well to call a national conference to discuss the subject of fraternities and their place and function in modern university life. It was voted that the President of the University be authorized to call such a national conference to meet at the University of Illinois during the latter part of October, 1906. 14. The Secretary of State, Mr. Elihu Root, has invited the President of the University to accept an appointment as one of the Government Commissioners to attend, the Pan-American Congress to be held in Rio Janeiro, Brazil, beginning July 21, 1906. He states that it is not anticipated that the delegates will be kept away from this country later than the month of September. Voted that the President of the University be authorized to accept this appointment. 15. Mr. George S. Pope, late captain of Company B, University regiment, requests that he be allowed a rebate of one-half of the yearly military scholarship. Voted that the request be denied. 16. A letter is herewith submitted from Professor Edward Kremers of the University of Wisconsin, on the subject of the School of Pharmacy of the University of Illinois. Voted to refer the communication to the President of the University for consideration. 17. The Military Department requests permission to award the granting of the contract for military uniforms to the firm of Fred Kaufman of Chicago without further bids. I t was voted that the Comptroller and Commandant should call for bids for furnishing uniforms and report the results, with recornmendations, to the Board. < 18. The University of Aberdeen sends an invitation to the University to be represented at the celebration of its four hundredth anniversary to be held in the middle of the coming September. Voted that Dean David Kinley be authorized to represent the U n i versity on such occasion. * % v7 19. I submit a communication from Dean Davenport as to:desired changes in the agricultural building. Voted to refer to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds with power to act. • 20. I submit herewith a request from Professor Charles\ C. Pickett of the Law School to be granted leave of absence on half pay- during the academic year commencing September 1, 1906. Professor Pickett has served the University continuously for a period of ten years.
