O n motion of Mr. McLean, the President of the Board and President J a m e s were appointed a committee to prepare suitable resolutions with regard to M r . E. G. Keith accepted the treasuryship of the University of Illinois at a critical moment in its history, when there was great need of a man well known and trusted by all who knew him who should by so doing help the University to recover from the shock caused by the defalcation of the larger part of its endowment fund and all its expense fund; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Keith having qualified, discharged the duties of the office faithfully from April 14, 1897, until his death May 17, 1905; therefore, be it Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the University, That it acknowledges the great debt of gratitude it owes to Mr. Keith for his services and pays willing tribute to the memory of his conspicuous ability and his sterling integrity. Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be sent by the Secretary to Mr. Keith's family.
