Local Improvements, the passage of the ordinance by the said city to pave said street, and the action and judgment of the County Court on said ordinance and petition to pave the said street, and also approves of the amount of the assessment of benefits to the University and its property; and, further Resolved, That the Business Manager of the University be, and he is hereby, directed to pay, after the said city of Champaign certifies that the contractor has completed the said pavement according to the plans and specifications, the several installments of the assessment on or before the same fall due. The Board adjourned to meet at 3:00 o'clock p. m.

SESSION OF MONDAY AFTERNOON, J U N E 30,1902.

When the Board met pursuant to adjournment, the same members were present as during the morning session. Mrs. Oarriel from the Committee on Students' Welfare, reported that an agreement had been made with Mr. L. O. Miller to conduct the University Dining Hall and Lunch Room on the same terms as were made with Mrs. Gibbs for last year, except that the University should furnish some heavy articles needed, and that certain articles had been purchased from Mrs. Gibbs, for which $900 had been paid. She also recommended that certain repairs and improvements be made, and the question of making these was referred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds and Mrs. Carriel, with power to act.

CATALOGUE PRINTING.

The Secretary stated that the catalogue for 1901-1902, printed by Messrs. Hack & Anderson of Chicago, did not seem to fulfill the terms of the contraot made in regard to its printing. It was moved that a deduction of 10 per cent on the bill be demanded. An amendment was offered that a discount of 5 per cent be demanded; the amendment was lost and the original motion then prevailed.

ELECTRIC LIGHTING PLANT.

The Committee on Buildings and Grounds presented the following report with regard to the enlargement of the Electric Light Plant, and the report was adopted. URBANA, I I I . , June 30, 1902. lo the Board oj Irustees: Your Committee on Buildings and Grounds desires to report concerning an enlargement of the Electric Light Plant of the University. Professors Breckenridge and Brooks prepared specifications and requirements and asked for proposals from electrical machinery manufacturers. They received proposals from the General Electric Co., Schenectady, N. Y.; Stanley Electric Mfg. Co., of Pittsfield, Mass.; Westinghouse Electric Mfg. Co., of'Pittsburg, Pa.; Bullock Electric Mfg. Co., of Cincinnati, Ohio. The lowest bid was from the Bullock Co., for an Ide direct-connected engine, guaranteed by the company to be satisfactory, at a price of $4,875. The professors preferred the machine and engine of the Westinghouse Co. at a price of $5,000, and they so recommend to your Committee. The Committee accepted the recommendation of the professors and ordered the purchase of a 120-kilowat capacity,
