direct-connected engine-dynamo machine for $5,000, and the return of one 45-kilowat belted dynamo with exciter. This has been done and the contract for the same filed with the Secretary. Your Committee also ordered the installation of the above engine and dynamo in the Electrical Laboratory at an expense of $1,000. Your Committee further ordered that electric wire and connections be laid in the tunnels, made necessary by the new Chemical Laboratory and the fitting up of the new law building, at an expense of $900. Respectfully submitted, 8. A. BULLARD, Chairman. The Committee on Buildings and Grounds made the following report which was adopted:

CLAIM OF WALSH & HEUCK. URBANA, I I I . , June 30,1902. lo the Board of Trustees: Your Committee on Buildings and Grounds, to which was referred the bill of Walsh & Heuck for $50 for an estimate on some proposed work to be done at the Agricultural Building, has examined into the validity of the biil and desires to report that the bill is, in its opinion, not a just one and recommends that it be not paid. Respectfully submitted, S. A. BULLARD, Chairman. WOMEN'S GYMNASIUM.

Mrs. Oarriel of the Students' Welfare Committee, presented a report recommending that the young ladies of the University be given the use of the new Gymnasium two afternoons of each week, and the room now used by them as a gymnasium be no longer so occupied. After considerable discussion, the report was referred back to the Committee for further investigation and report.

COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING.

Mr. McKay moved that a committee of three t including the chairman of the Board, be appointed to investigate and report on the College of Engineering. The motion prevailed, and President Nightingale appointed Mr. McKay and Mr. Bullard upon the committee. The Board adjourned.
