APPROPRIATIONS.

To the Board of Trustees. The undersigned special committee, appointed at the December meeting to present to the Legislature the requests of the University for appropriations, reports that it has performed that duty and that appropriations have been made in the University appropriation biil for the biennial period, as follows:

Taxes on Minnesota lands Salaries, etc... Apparatus and appliances Libraries Materials for shop piactice Cabinets and collections. Fire protection Pavements and walks Vaccine laboratory. Engineering department Repairs to buildings and improvement of grounds... Astronomical apparatus ., ; State water analysis.. Improvements at Experiment farm and barns Loss by fire at Natural History Hall Agricultural buildings. Women's building Department of Domestic Economy Purchase of small parcels of land , Water plant.. :.. Furnishing electric building < , Electric lights, University Hall. Natural History Hall Swimming pool at men's gymnasium

An appropriation of $50,000.00 was also secured in the General Appropriation Bill for interest on the Univeristy Endowment for the last half of the year 1899 and for the year 1900, and also for the arrears of interest accruing in the year ending June 11, 1897, the date upon which the act of the Fortieth General Assembly, relating to the endowment, became a law. The usual biil has been passed turning over to the University the proceeds of the later congressional acts. Each of the bills above referred to is now awaiting the approval of the Governor.

Flower, from t h e C o m m i t t e e on S t u d e n t s ' Welfare, m a d e a n informal report with r e g a r d to a l u n c h room. T h e C o m m i t t e e was asked to m a k e a fuller report, g i v i n g detail as to expense, at t h e adjourned m e e t i n g . O n motion of Mr. M c K a y , t h e following resolution of t h a n k s to G o v e r n o r T a n n e r was a d o p t e d : Resolved, That the thanks of this Board are hereby tendered to Governor Tanner for earnest efforts to secure liberal appropriations for the University by the Forty-first General Assembly. Mr. B u l l a r d from a special c o m m i t t e e a p p o i n t e d to consider a n d r e p o r t upon a p r o p e r memorial for professor T u r n e r , made a n inform a l report, b u t no action was taken.
