UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

M E E T I N G O F J U L Y 26, 1899.

The following call for a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was issued July 21, 1899: The President of the Board upon the request of Messrs. Fulkerson, McKay, and Smith and Mrs. Abbott and Mrs. Carriel, issues this call for a special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois to be held at 9 o'clock a. m., Wednesday, July 26, 1899, in the Trustees Room, Library Building, Urbana, 111., "to consider the report of the Committee on Agriculture relating to course of study and the appointment of new instructors; also any other business that may be duly presented." Pursuant to this call the Board met at 9 o'clock a. m., July 26, 1899, in the Trustees' Room, Library Building, Urbana, Illinois. The members present were Messrs. McKay, McLean, and Smith and Mrs. Mower, Mrs. Carriel, and Mrs. Abbott; those absent were Governor Tanner, Messrs. Bayliss, Bullard, Pulkerson, Hatch, and Nightingale. Vice-President Burrill was also present. There being no quorum the Board adjourned to meet at 9 o'clock a. m., Aug. 16, 1899.

ADJOURNED SESSION, AUGUST

16,1899.

When the Board met pursuant to adjournment the members present were Messrs. Bullard, McKay, McLean, and Smith and Mrs. Flower, Mrs. Carriel, and Mrs. Abbott; absent, Grovernor Tanner and Messrs. Bayliss, Fulkerson, Hatch, and Nightingale. VicePresident Burrill was also present.

COAL.

The Committee on Buildings and Grounds reported that it had received bids to furnish coal as follows: The Junction Mining Co., Springfield Junction, 111., 4,000 tons best pea coal, f. o. b. cars Champaign or Urbana, at $1.10 per ton. C. A. Besore, Urbana, 111., 5,000 tons or less, Illinois pea coal at $1.08 per ton. J. A. Reeves, Champaign, 111., 2,500 tons Carterville coal, No. 3, washed pea, delivered at Central Heating Plant, at $1.75 per ton. Odin Coal Co., Odin, 111., pea coal, f. o. b. cars Urbana, at $1.00 per ton. Sangamon Coal Co., Springfield, 111., 1,000 tons pea coal, f. o. b. cars Urbana or Champaign, at $1.06 per ton.
