ENGINEERING HALL.

URBANA, I I I . , March 14, 1894.

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. GENTLEMEN: Your committee on buildings and grounds reports t h a t work on Engineering Hall is now progressing fairly well. At t h e beginning of winter t h e frost affected t h e stone somewhat, as i t had been newly quarried; and in order t h a t t h e building should not be injured, the superintendent ordered t h a t t h e laying of stone in t h e walls be discontinued. The beginning of March work was started anew and will now be pushed as rapidly as practicable. The work t h a t has been done is satisfactory. The contractors have been paid on estimates of t h e superintendent since t h e last report of this committee—January 1, 1894, $13,739.65; February 1, 1894, $8,796.60; March 1, 1894, $10,037.72. The committee recommends t h e payment of $1,200 to t h e architect and superintendent, to apply on services. Additional blue prints have been prepared at an expense of $14.40: an appropriation is asked for this amount.
