feels t h a t t h e professor of agriculture, having t h e care and superintendence of this large body of land, together with his duties in t h e University, has been overworked, and we think t h e present management and policy of renting t h e farm, and divorcing the University from t h e active duties of farming, will contribute to t h e welfare and prosperity of t h e University and t h e professor of agriculture. All of which is respectfully submitted. The report of t h e committee was adopted on motion of Mr. Baab. The special committee appointed to consider matters relating to t h e freshman sociable made t h e following report, which was adopted:

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. GENTLEMEN:—Your committee to which was referred t h a t part of t h e regent's report relating to t h e freshman sociable, would respectfully report t h a t i t has inquired into the matter of the alleged irregular conduct of some of t h e students of the University and recommends t h e adoption of t h e following resolution: Whereas, T h e Board of Trustees of t h e University of Illinois has heard with great chagrin of t h e vulgar action of certain students in interrupting t h e class supper of the freshmen a t Bloomington, and Whereas, T h e conduct of the young men in disturbing this social reunion is highly detrimental to t h e discipline of t h e University and t h e fair name of t h e State of Illinois, and wholly unbecoming for students of this institution, therefore, be i t Besolved, T h a t t h e board of trustees heartily endorses the sentiment expressed by t h e president of t h e freshman class a t its banquet and trusts t h a t t h e absurd and ungentlemanly custom of molesting this class will be forever abandoned. Professor Crawford's claim to be paid t h e regular salary for t h e month of September, 1893, was not allowed. The treasurer's report was read by t h e secretary, Mr. Spalding being absent, and was referred to t h e finance committee.
