1 15-inch crank shaper with counter-shaft and all attachments belonging thereto, price $300. These machines are all to be used as a part of t h e exhibit of t h e mechanical engineering department a t t h e World's Columbian Exposition. The condition of t h e contracts is t h a t if t h e machines shall be returned in good shape at t h e expense of the University t h e contracts shall thereby be satisfied; if they are not so returned, t h a t t h e University shall be liable for t h e machines at t h e prices named. The committee further reported t h a t upon its request to t h e governor he had sent a message to t h e General Assembly recommending t h a t t h e University be empowered by law to loan its endowment fund upon real estate security. On motion of Mr. Raymond, t h e action of t h e committee was approved. The committee on instruction made a further report recommending t h e establishment of a chair of pedagogy, and t h e recommendation was adopted. On motion of Mr Morgan, Mr. Edward Kimball Hall, director of t h e gymnasium and instructor in athletics, was re-appointed for t h e year beginning September 1, 1893, at a salary of $1,500 a year. On motion of Mr. Bullard, t h e following appropriations were made as recommended by Professor S. W. Shattuck, business agent.
