That this showing is not more favorable is due in part to reduction of the oats and corn crops by drouth, but mainly to t h e continued depression in live stcck, especially cattle. Sales have been made only at extraordinarily low prices. As a lot, the horses and cattle are better than ever before, but are valued lower than in any former year. Five years since a correspond f ng lot would have been valued at least $5,000 higher. I t was not thought advisable to purchase stock for feeding, hence both receipts and expenditures are less than in any former year. Respectfully submitted,

SIR: The Board of Direction of the Agricultural Experiment Station of the University of Illinois, presents these papers. Paper A is a list of vouchers, numbers 765 to 825, inclusive, for audit. Paper B is a statement of t h e Station expenditures for t h e quarter ending September 30, 1890. Paper C is a statement of t h e appropriations, expenditures and balances for toe quarter ending December 31, 1890. Paper D is a statement of appropriations asked for the purpose of carrying on the work of t h e Station for t h e current quarter, a n l for the quarter ending March 31, 1891.
