288 TTNIVERSITY O F ILLINOIS. collections, at present, under the law requiring a cabinet of insects to be prepared by the State Entomologist and deposited at the University. No collections have been sent during the last two years to the state ^educational institutions or to the state museum, but according to a resolution passed by the State Board of World's Fair Commissioners last spring, it is held t h a t the collections now making by the Laboratory for Exposition purposes will be available at the close of the Exposition for distribution by the Laboratory to these institutions.
