On motion of Mr. McLean, the following men were appointed members of the Board of Direction of the Experiment S t a t i o n for t h e year beginning April 1, 1 8 9 2 : E. E. Chester, of Champ a i g n ; H. M. Dunlap, of Savoy, and H. B. Gurler, of DeKalb, a s representatives of the Illinois S t a t e Board of Agriculture, t h e Illinois S t a t e Horticultural Society, and the Illinois S t a t e Dairymen's Association, respectively; Messrs. Cobb and Funk, of t h e Board of Trustees; Professors Burrill, Morrow, and Forbes, and Mr. F a r r i n g t o n . Professor Morrow was appointed President of the B o a r d of Direction, a n d Messrs. Cobb and Chester were named as the members of the Board who should, with the President as chairman, constitute its executive committee. The following resolution was passed, on motion of Mr. McLean: Besolved, That the resolution of this Board, passed at its last meeting, directing the Treasurer of the Board to pay bills for the printing and binding of a second edition of the first volume of the Zoological Survey of the State of Illinois, on the order of State Board of Contracts, be and is hereby rescinded. In view of the s t a t e m e n t in t h e Regent's report, t h a t an effort was making by citizens of U r b a n a and Champaign for a union high school, the following resolution, offered by Mr. E a a b , was a d o p t e d : H solved, That the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, regards, with favor, the proposition to establish a township high school for the cities of Urbana and Champaign, and promises to such high school every support compatible with the interests of the University and the laws of the state. I t was voted, on motion of Mr. R a a b , t h a t a committee of three be appointed t o confer with the authorities of the s t a t e n o r m a l schools, as t o how credits should be given t o students of the n o r m a l schools who should go from them t o the University. The President appointed the Committee on Instruction as such committee. On motion of Mr. R a a b , $25 was assigned from t h e s t a t e appropriation for a p p a r a t u s and material for the purchase of four t r u m p e t s and t a r g e t materials for the military department, and $20 from current funds for t h e purchase of music for the band. On motion of Mr. Shawhan, the Business Agent and Lieut. Hills were authorized t o expend such an a m o u n t as was found necessary in the care of the muskets. On motion of Mr. McLean, the Board approved the suggestion of Lieut. Hills t h a t for the next term the class in military tactics have two recitations a week. The request for b a t h s a t the gymnasium was referred t o t h e Committee on Buildings and Grounds, t o be reported on a t the next meeting.
