F o r drawers, t r a y s and labels for the Department of Mining Engineering, $50 was appropriated on motion of Mr. Cobb from the s t a t e a p p r o p r i a t i o n for a metallurgical l a b o r a t o r y . On motion of Mr. Cobb, $50 was appropriated from current funds for such advertising as is proposed by the committee of the Faculty. F o u r hundred dollars was appropriated from current funds for the purchase of type, etc., as asked by the Illini, the purchases t o be made by the Business Agent. Five hundred dollars was appropriated from s t a t e appropriation for instruction, on motion of Mr. McKay, for technical lectures, the m a t t e r t o be under the supervision of the Faculty. The question of advertising in the Chicago Graphic was referred t o Mr. Morgan for investigation. Mr. Morgan reported t h a t t o advertise the University by means of n e a t framed placards, p u t up one a t each county seat, would cost a b o u t $500. F u r t h e r consideration of advertising in these two ways was left over t o t h e next meeting. An a p p r o p r i a t i o n of $35 from current funds was made t o meet the expenses of the flag raising.
