PROCEEDINGS O F BOARD O F TRUSTEES.

171

The Dean of t h e College of Engineering makes two requests:

U N I V E R S I T Y OF ILLINOIS, URBANA, I I I . , December 8, 1891.

To tie Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. GENTLEMEN : The faculty of t h e College of Engineering respectfully requests t h a t the Board of Trustees appropriate the sum of $500 to be expended in obtaining technical lectures from eminent specialists in engineering and architecture, on topics related to the course of study in t h e College, but in addition to the regular instruction imparted by the professors in the College. I t appears probable t h a t t h e cost of a single lecture and expenses of lecturer would average about $50 each, unless several lectures from each person are delivered during his stay at the University. The effect of these lectures will be excellent; they will further enable advanced students to make valuable professional acquaintances, and we believe t h a t no better means of advertising the University in technical and professional circles can be found. The faculty of the College of Engineering also requests an appropriation of $100 in aid of the publication of the Technograph, a scientific annual containing technical papers by professors, graduates and undergraduates of the College. Very respectfully submitted,

"N. CLIFFORD KICKER,

Dean of Engineering College. The lllini asks an appropriation as follows:
