PROCEEDINGS O F BOARD O F TRUSTEES. 158 A u t h o r i t y was, on motion of Mr. Cobb, given t o t h e committee in charge of t h e construction of t h e farm b a r n , t o use a n y surplus of t h e $3,500 a p p r o p r i a t e d for this purpose in t h e cons t r u c t i o n of sheds, a n d other buildings needed a s adjuncts of the barn. The Committee on Finance submitted t h e following: reports, which were approved for record: URBANA, I I I . , September 8, 1891. To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. GENTLEMEN: Your Finance Committee, to which were referred the statement of the receipts and expenditures of the Agricultural Experiment Station for the year ending June 30, 1891, and the Treasurer's warrants No. 737 to 1,021, inclusive, reports t h a t it has examined the same and finds them correct, and t h a t t h e receipts have been $15,090.00 and the expenditures $15,090.00. The undersigned, your Finance Committee, having examined the Treasurer's report bearing date September 8, 1891, showing by topics or subjects the disbursements and t h e receipts from June 1, 1891, to August 31, and rinding no error recommends its approval. To facilitate comparisons between reports and warrants and vouchers we suggest t h a t financial reports contain references, by figures, letters, or characters to be endorsed on such warrants and vouchers identifying them with t h e topics in the reports; and t h a t reports be accompanied with such arrangements of t h e warrants and vouchers, or an index referring to them, as will simplify comparisons by the committee. On m o t i o n of Mr. Cobb, t h e m a t t e r of h e a t i n g Military Hall was referred t o the President, Professor Ricker, and t h e Business Agent, t h e work t o be done within t h e limits of t h e state appropriation. On m o t i o n of Mr. G r a h a m , it was voted t h a t t h e Regent be authorized t o employ such assistance in his office as he needed, and $ 4 0 a m o n t h was a p p r o p r i a t e d for t h e same.
