No lands have been sold, and no applications for buying in tracts larger than 80 acres have been received. In most cases 40 acres is the amount wanted. On motion of J u d g e Harker, it was moved t h a t Messrs. Peabody, Bennett, and S h a t t u c k constitute the Committee on Minnesota la,nds; t h a t the committee be authorized t o subdivide and sell t h e lands, and t h a t no lands be sold for less t h a n $ 6 per acre. The m a t t e r of g r a n t i n g the literary societies of the University longer time for their meetings was referred t o t h e Faculty, with power t o act. The Committee on Buildings and Grounds reported informally upon t h e m a t t e r of fire escapes and the m a t t e r of,flags and flagstaff, and was directed t o give b o t h subjects further consideration and t o report a t t h e next meeting.
