The report of the Business Agent was, on motion, referred to the Auditing Committee. The Executive Committee presented the following report, which, on motion of Mr. McLean, was approved:

CHICAGO, 111., June 15,1887. The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, acting during an adjournment of the said Board, hereby make the following appointments and assignments in the department of the State Laboratory of Natural History: C. M. Weed, assistant for the year ending June 30, 1888. Salary to be $65 per month for the quar" ter ending June 3, 1887, under a former apnointment' and the salary for the year ending June 30, 1888, to be $800. C. A. Hart, assistant for the year ending June 30,1888, at a salary of $600 for the year. M. B. Waite, assistant for the year ending June 30,1888, at a salary of $500 for the year. W. H. Garman, assistant for July and August, 1887, with a salary of $200 for the two months. Professor T. J . Burrill, botanist for the year ending June 30,1888, salary of $400 for the year. All of the above salaries to be paid monthly except that of Professor Burrill, which shall be payable quarterly. Such salaries to be paid from funds appropriated for such purpose. S. M. The farm report was, on motion, referred to the Farm Committee. The Board then proceeded to consider the report of the Begent. On motion of Mr. Cobb, the nomination of Arthur T. Woods, to be professor of mechanical engineering at a salary of $2,000 per annum, beginning September 1, 1887, was confirmed.
