DOINGS OF OTHER COMMITTEES.

The committee on Building and Grounds met in conjunction with the Executive committee, both in April and June. They recommended several alterations and improvements in the University buildings, which, having been considered and ordered' by the Executive committee, were atterwards carried , into effect. Th^y also recommended the erection of a building to be used partly as a carpenter's shop, and partly to shelter tools and one team. This building, under an order of the Executive committee, has been erected, and is now in use. The committee on Faculty and Studies has also held several meetings. The time when Prof. P o w d l should enter upon service having been referred by the Board to this committee, an interview was held with Prof. Powell, and on his full acceptance of the appointment tendered him by the Board, he was put on service at once, but at his own request was detailed to conduct the scientific expedition he was already engaged in.
