Parks vs. Backyards First Floor, Plant Science Lab Where did you play as a child, in your backyard or local park? How big was your backyard? This research project asks whether the price of houses with larger lots is affected by park proximity. An ACES James Scholar project presented by Farah Abi-Akar (Peoria, IL). Illinois Turf Club First Floor, Plant Science Lab Come visit Illinois Turf Club as they present a cup of green! Students can plant and grow turf, which is grown on some of the best golf courses in the country. Horticulture Club First Floor, Plant Science Lab Visit the Horticulture Club exhibit to propagate your very own plant! We have several plants for you to choose from and will show you how to propagate a new plant from a cutting. Also, view our display board to see how fun the Horticulture Club is and how to join. The Impact of Phosphorus from Sewage Effluent on Algae Growth in Rivers First Floor, Plant Science Lab Learn about the impact of phosphorus on algae growth in streams located in an agricultural area of Illinois, which also receive sewage effluent. An ACES James Scholar project presented by Linda Jacobson (Schaumburg, IL). Illini Orchid Club First Floor, Plant Science Lab Here’s your opportunity to view a plethora of orchids, displaying different aspects of propagation and orchid family diversity. Hopefully there will be many blooming plants!

Climate Effects on Sex Ratios of Red-Winged Blackbirds First Floor, Plant Science Lab Under the guidance of Dr. Patrick Weatherhead, this student examined the possible relationship between climate changes and sex ratios of Red-Winged Blackbird nestlings using field data from 1985 to the present. An ACES James Scholar project presented by Jennet Knox (Sugar Land, TX). The Wildlife Society-Illinois Student Chapter First Floor, Plant Science Lab The Illini Wildlife Society presents past activities and current organization projects. Come see mammal skins and bird specimens on display accompanied by a short quiz. The Role of CERTs in Illinois First Floor, Plant Science Lab Visit this poster display to explore the research projects, brochures and additional information about CERTs and Citizen Corps.
