John Herrold Lancaster has been appointed assistant professor o f Library Science and will take over the courses in administration at the beginning of the 1943 fall term. Since 1939 he has been librarian at Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio. Before that he was director of student teaching at the same college and has had teaching experience in various high schools in the state of Ohio. Professor Lancaster was graduated from Ohio Wes- laacsiflp leyan University in 1920, received his M.A. at Ohio State University in son ton 1926. In June 1941 he was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree by Columbia University and in October of the same year received his B.S. tort beta in L.S. degree from the Columbia University School of Library Service. tack] He is author of The Use of the Library by Student Teachers (Teachers by College, Columbia University, Contribution to Education, no. 849). Professor Lancaster is married and has two sons. let Mary R. Kinney has resigned her position as instructor in the UniIk I versity of Illinois Library School to accept an appointment as assistant professor of library science at Simmons College, Boston, 01 Miss Kinney has been on leave of absence from the University of Mm wkerin during the past year while teaching at Simmons.
