Mary Helen James, assistant librarian of Tulane University, New )rlean Louisiana talked on "Reference aids for the small library"'at the bans, Anne Kraser Leidendeker, director, Science and Industrial Department. Public Library. Los Angeles, California, was a speaker on Personnel and Employment Management at the Institute of Occupations (Biennial Convention of the National Federation and Professional Women's Clubs ^ held in Chicago, July 10-11, 1933. She represented Western Service. Carrie O. Larson, librarian of the East High School at Des Moines, Iowa, was elected President of the Library Section of the Iowa State Teachers' Association for 1934. Leora J. Lewis, director of South Dakota Free Library Commission, Pierre, South Dakota, introduced the subject of "Unemployment among Trained Librarians in South Dakota" at the annual conference of the South Dakota Library Association held in Pierre, November 16-17, 1933. Alice M. Matthews, librarian of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, as a member of the International Relations Committee of th< American Library Association, accepted President Lydenberg's invitation to sit as an adjoint delegate, representing the A.L.A., in the meeting of the International Library Committee, which met in Chicago on Saturday, October 14. Wright Work cupations (Biennial Convention of the National Federation and Professional Women's Clubs, held in Chicago, July 10-11, 1933. Lena B. Nofcier, librarian and secretary of the Kentucky Library Commission, Frankfort, Kentucky, was elected first Vice-President of the Kentucky Library Association for 1933-34. Margaret Oldfather, catalogcr, University of Ohio, was elected Secretary of the Junior Members Round Table at the A.L.A. Meeting in October. I Alma Penrose, librarian of the Public Library at St. Cloud, Minnesota, was appointed by Governor Olson to represent public libraries on the Committee on unemployed youth in Minnesota. She was also elected VicePresident of the Minnesota Library Association for 1933-34, at its meeting in Minneapolis in June. I Marion Phillips, librarian of the Public Library, Moorhead, Minnesota, spoke on "Essential Library service" at the Minnesota Library Association Meeting which was held in Minneapolis in June, 1933. Frida L. Pliefke, assistant librarian of the Mayo Clinc Library, Rochester, Minnesota, is Chairman of Zone 2 of the Medical Library Association for the study of the cost of Medical periodicals. Anna May Price, superintendent, Library Extension Division, Illinois State Library, Springfield, was elected President of the Illinois Library Association for 1033-34 at their dinner meeting at Chicago in October.
