A L U M N I GOSSIP The December number of Libraries and also its last appearance as a periodical was in honor of Mary Eileen Ahern, its editor since its eginning in 1896. The number contained many letters and articles from librarians all over the country expressing their appreciation of Miss Ahren's contribution to the library profession, many of the letters ^ere deeply appreciative of the great personal inspiration and help Thich Miss Ahern had always given, especially to the beginner. Her Irarm interest in people, her keen wit, her wide knowledge of affairs ^nd her insight into the real needs of the profession won her many [warm friends and made Public Libraries (later Libraries) a real factor in library progress. I Harriet E. Howe, '02, is director of the School for Librarianship at Denver, Colorado, not assistant director as stated in the last letter. p e r home address is 960 Sherman St., Apt. 5, Denver. I Helen T. Kennedy, '03, is at present cataloging the Museum Library at Santa Fe, New Mexico. I Josie B. Houchens, '05, will again be an instructor in the Summer ession of the School for Library Service, Columbia University. Mary B. McClellan, '05-'06, formerly reference librarian at White Plains, N.Y., is in charge of the Inter-Racial Service Department of the Hartford, Conn., Public Library. Elizabeth E. Wilson, '07, is on the catalog staff of the Public Library at Cincinnati, Ohio. Fenimore Schwartz, '14, is taking a prolonged vacation ami is living in Knoxville, 111. She visited the University not long ago and says she is having a good time remodelling her home, s arching for antiques < and incidentally she is aboard member of the Knoxville Public Librar) and is giving some assistance in cataloging the library,
