(d) Rules far Computing Averages: AH letter grades received by the student at the end of the semester are used in computing the averages for the probation rules. (A—S.O; B—4.0; C—3.0; D—2.0; E— 1.0) T h e average for KTaduation is computed for those courses which are actually counted as fulfilling the requirements for graduation. When a student repeats a course, only the final grade received is used in computing the average for probation and graduation. Courses in which the student receives credit as a result of special or proficiency examinations are not considered in computing averages either for probation or graduation. Certain colleges, schools, and curricula have established higher scholastic standards. Each college office, on request, will inform the student regarding the scholar ations 41. Delinquencies in English (a) A satisfactory proficiency in the use of written English is a requirement for all undergraduate degrees awarded by the Urbana divisions of the University. In order to assure such proficiency, all undergraduates who pass the Rhetoric 102 course or its equivalent with a an before (b) Students who fail on the qualifying examination are required to pass an extra one-semester course in rhetoric, specifically Rhetoric 200; Rhetoric 200 shall be offered every semester and summer session, and the individual colleges and schools shall decide at what point in his University career the student who fails the qualifying examination shall take the course. In general, Rhetoric 200 is required as soon as possible after the qualifying examination. 42. Readmission of Students Dropped Petitions for readmission of students dropped from he University for poor scholarship are acted on by he d e n or director, under regulations made by the faculty of the college or school concerned.
