ADDITIONS TO GENERAL CONTRACT FOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING BUILDING (11) The Department of Electrical Engineering has requested the following additions to the contract with the John Felmley Company for the construction of the Electrical Engineering Building: 1. Alterations in Room 219 to make it suitable for laboratory use for illumination engineering instruction $3 062 11 2. Acoustical materials for walls and ceilings 5 821 31 The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend these additions. Funds are available in the State appropriation for this building. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute these changes. On motion of Mr. Livingston, these additions were approved and authority was given as recommended. ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR GENERAL WORK ON PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT ADDITION TO RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL HOSPITALS (12) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend an addition of $2,968 to the contract with E. H. Marhoefer, Jr., Company of Chicago for the general work on the Physical Environment Addition to the Research and Educational Hospitals, to provide for the construction of a temporary machine shop. Funds are available. I concur and request that the Comptroller and Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this change in the contract. On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, this addition was approved and authority was given as recommended. ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR PLUMBING FOR TEMPORARY CAFETERIA AT URBANA (13) The Director of the Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommend an increase of $6,827.19 in the contract with the Reliable Plumbing and Heating Company for plumbing and heating work in the construction of the Temporary Cafeteria at Urbana, to provide for the cost of connecting all food service equipment in the building. Funds are available. I concur and request that the Comptroller and Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this change. On motion of Mr. Nickell, this addition was approved and authority was given as recommended. REPORT OF CHANGE IN ESTIMATES FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES ON CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING BUILDING (14) The Board of Trustees on June 23, 1947 (Minutes, page 398), approved the extension of the contract with Graham, Anderson, Probst, and White for architectural services on the Chemistry Building to include plans and specifications for the equipment- The contract was increased on the basis of 8 per cent of the cost of the equipment, and it was estimated that the total cost of the contract would be $17,360. This was based on the original estimate of $217,000, made two years ago, for
