On motion of Mr. Davis, this calendar was approved as recommended by the University Senate. PURCHASE OF FIRE EQUIPMENT Mr. Adams, for the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, to whom was referred the matter of the purchase of additional equipment for fire protection, reported that the purchase of such equipment was impossible at present, and requested to be discharged from further consideration of this matter at present. On motion of Mr. Adams, the committee was relieved as requested, and the President of the University was requested to study the matter and report at some future meeting. WAGE SCALES OF CERTAIN EMPLOYEES Mr. Adams, also for the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, recommended that the wages of certain groups of employees, including janitors, groundsmen, police, watchmen, employees in the water station, fire station, operation, maintenance, and repair of trucks and cars, in the Physical Plant Department, and in the unskilled and non-clerical staff in the College of Agriculture, be increased by 7.7% (or to the nearest half-cent) effective April i, 1942, that the matter be studied on a long-range basis with reference to living costs in the community and the price index, and that $10,000 be appropriated to provide for this increase for the present fiscal year.
