REPORT OF FINANCE COMMITTEE A t this point, M r . M a y e r , for t h e F i n a n c e C o m m i t t e e , p r e s e n t e d the following report. Subsequent to the last meeting of the Board, $15,000 par of Indianapolis Power & Light ZVA% bonds were called for payment. At about the same time the finance committee had presented to it three real estate loans on good quality residential property in Champaign and Urbana. T h e committee, after full inquiry, approved all of these loans as investments of endowment funds and, since immediate action was necessary, authorized their completion as an emergency action. The loans are as follows: ( i ) 701 West Ohio Street, Urbana, $4,000; (2) 924 West Armory Avenue, Champaign, $4,500; (3) 705 South Elm Street, Champaign, $4,500. All loans are at 4% interest with 5% of the principal payable annually. O n m o t i o n of M r . M a y e r , t h i s a c t i o n of t h e F i n a n c e C o m m i t t e e was confirmed. MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT WILLARD T h e B o a r d r e s u m e d c o n s i d e r a t i o n of m a t t e r s p r e s e n t e d by P r e s i d e n t Willard. BIDS ON LIGHTING FIXTURES FOR ILLINI UNION BUILDING (2) The Director of the Physical Plant Department submits the following schedule of bids received for special interior lighting fixtures (the final drawings for which were presented for the information of the members of the Board of Trustees and the Directors of the University of Illinois Foundation who were present) for the Illini Union Building, based on drawings prepared by the Physical Plant Department and approved by the interior decorator: Walter G. Warren & Company $14 147 00 Wilmer S. Snow 14 728 87 Edward F. Caldwell & Co., Inc 18 606 00 T h e Director recommends that the contract be awarded to Walter G. Warren & Company, the lowest bidder, in the amount of $14,147. O n m o t i o n of M r . J e n s e n , t h i s c o n t r a c t w a s a w a r d e d a s r e c o m mended. GIFTS TO THE UNIVERSITY (3) The following report of gifts received by the University since the last report: 1. Carnegie Corporation of New York, $4,000 for research work in the College of Dentistry. This is a continuation of previous grants made by the Corporation for fellowships in dental research.
