DEANSHIP OF COLLEGE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

(6) I recommend the appointment of Dr. K. J. McCristal, presently Chairman of Professional Education in the Department of Health, Physical Edncation, and Recreation at Michigan State University, as Professor of Physical Education for Men on indefinite tenure, and Dean of the College of Physical Education for two years from September 1, 1961, at a salary of $17,000 a year on a twelve-month serviee basis. This appointment is to fill the vacancy which will be created by the retirement of Dean Seward C. Staley from active service on September 1, 1961. The appointment of Dr. McCristal is recommended upon nomination by a special search committee1 appointed to canvass the field of potential candidates examine their qualifications and make recommendations, and after consultation with the Executive Committee of the College of Physical Education. The VicePresident and Provost and the Dean of the Graduate College also have been consulted and concur. O n motion of M r . Wilkins, this appointment w a s approved.

HEADSHIP O F DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACY

(7) The Dean of the College of Pharmacy and the Vice-President iu charge of the Chicago Professional Colleges recommend the appointment of Dr. Martin I, Blake, presently Associate Professor of Pharmacy, as Professor of Pharmacy on indefinite tenure, and Head of the Department of Pharmacy beginning September 1, 1961, at an annual salary of $15,000 on a twelve-month service basis. The Headship of the Department is presently vacant. The recommendation for this appointment was initiated by a special search committee1 after more than a year of study of qualifications of available candidates, and Dr. Blake is the unanimous choice of the Committee. The Vice-President and Provost and the Dean of the Graduate College have been consulted and concur. I recommend approval. O n motion of M r s . Watkins, this appointment was approved,

ALEXANDER ABASHIAN, Assistaut Professor of Physics, beginning September 1, 1961, at an annual salary of $9,000 ( D ) . 2. ERNEST G. ANDERSON, Visiting Professor of Genetics, Departments of Agronomy aud Botany, on one-half time, for fourteen months from July 1, 1961, at an annual salary of $6,000 (DY50).
