On motion of Mr. Howard, these appointments were approved. Appointment of Dean, College of Associated Health Professions, Chicago

(5) T h e chancellor at Chicago has recommended the appointment of David C. Broski as professor of health professions education in the Center for Educational Development, on indefinite tenure, and dean of the College of Associated Health Professions, effective July 1, 1983, on a twelve-month service basis, at an annual salary of $65,000. Dr. Broski is presently associate director of the School of Allied Medical Professions and associate professor at Ohio State University. Dr. Broski will replace Thomas W. Beckham who became associate vice chancellor for health affairs. Dr. Ronald E. Olson has served as acting dean while a search for a permanent dean was undertaken. T h e nomination is made with the advice of a search committee 1 and is supported by the Executive Committee of the college. T h e vice president for academic affairs concurs. I recommend approval. O n m o t i o n of M r . H o w a r d , this a p p o i n t m e n t w a s a p p r o v e d .

Head, Department of Geological Sciences, Chicago

(6) T h e chancellor at the Chicago campus, after consultation with the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has recommended the appointment of Robert Eugene DeMar, professor of geological sciences and acting head of the department since September 1, 1979, as head of the Department of Geological Sciences beginning July 1, 1983, on an academic year service basis, at an annual salary of $41,000. Professor DeMar will continue to hold the rank of professor on indefinite tenure. T h e recommendation is made after consultation with faculty members of the department. T h e vice president for academic affairs concurs in the recommendation. I recommend approval.

(7) T h e chancellor at Uibana-Champaign, after consultation with the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has recommended the appointment of Margaret M . Dickie, professor of English, as head of the Department of English beginning August 21, 1983, on an academic year service basis at an annual salary of $42,300. Dr. Dickie will continue to hold the rank of professor on indefinite tenure. She will succeed Dr. Robert W. Rogers who has been acting head.
