GIFTS TO THE UNIVERSITY (13) The following report of gifts received by the University since the last report: A crayon portrait of Senator John L. Tincher, Member of the General Assembly in 1867, who introduced the bill in the State Senate locating the University at Urbana, together with photographs of him and his home, from his daughter-in-law, Mrs. John L. Tincher.

REPORT OF PURCHASES (14) The following report of purchases authorized by the President since the last report. Pyrex laboratory glassware (239 cases—a six months supply) for the University Storerooms, including the Chicago Departments, from W. M. Welch Manufacturing Company, at a cost of $4,155.66. This is a non-competitive item and the order was given to this Company because of the service it can render. Soil maps of Cumberland, Warren, Alexander, Shelby, and Stark Counties (5,000 each) from Jahn & Oilier Engraving Company, Chicago, at a cost of $3,500 f.o.b. Urbana. Two chain-grate stokers for boilers in Power Plant, from the Laclede Stoker Company, St. Louis, Missouri, the lowest bidder, a t a cost 0/^4,835 f.o.b. Urbana. T h i s r e p o r t w a s r e c e i v e d for r e c o r d . COMPTROLLER'S REPORT OF CONTRACTS (15) The following report from the Comptroller of contracts executed since the last report: The Illinois State Board for Vocational Education to pay regular fees to the University for instruction to be rendered as follows: To whom Instruction in Date Tenure Harold Meisenheimer College of Medicine February 27, One year from 1934 October, 1933 T h i s r e p o r t w a s r e c e i v e d for r e c o r d . INSURANCE ON POWER PLANT EQUIPMENT (16) A recommendation from the Acting Director of Buildings and Grounds Operation that property damage and public liability insurance on the equipment in the Power Plant be placed with the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company at a cost of $2,947.25 for a three-year period. This insurance will provide the following: 1. Protection from property damage of $25,000 per accident; 2. Protection from public liability; 3. Protection for employees to the amount of $10,000 per person; 4. Inspection service by experts in all functions of the power plant. Funds for this premium are available in the physical plant operating budget.

On motion of Mr. Barrett, this insurance was authorized.
